Elaine LaCroix, MHSM, OTR/L, CHT.

Throughout her extensive professional career, Elaine LaCroix has focused on the treatment of upper extremity injuries and conditions. Her areas of expertise include arthritis, amputations, burns, and fractures. Ms. LaCroix has successfully treated the various soft tissue conditions that are often work related including nerve compression syndromes and tendinitis. Her goals have centered on preventing or minimizing symptom development and on assisting employers in controlling and minimizing the related costs.

Prior to founding HRA, Ms. LaCroix served as a department head at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans and at Brigham and Woman’s Hospital in Boston. She was a staff therapist at Massachusetts General Hospital. While in graduate school, she was employed by a variety of Boston area facilities. In 1984, Elaine established Hand Rehabilitation Associates which has continued to maximize positive results and hasten an employee’s return to the workforce. In the 1980s and 1990s, she was a consultant to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Industrial Accidents for the formulation of guidelines for the care provided to injured workers and to the Rate Setting Commission regarding the appropriateness of the rates established. Ms. LaCroix keeps her clinical skills current by working part-time as a hand therapist at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates/Atrills Health Kenmore Practice.

Ms. LaCroix has been invited to present numerous lectures and workshops to community, industrial, insurance, medical and university groups. She has spoken at national and regional conferences. Her presentation contents have included information on repetitive strain injuries, work-site analysis, hand therapy topics, splinting, administration, and reimbursement issues. She has also published a number of articles and chapters on the subject of occupational upper extremity problems.

Her continuing education courses have been relevant to ergonomics including ADA and OSHA training, health care management, and upper body rehabilitation.
